7Day Challenge Day 1

Power Up!

Welcome to the 7DAY Power Challenge! I pray that that you will be inspired, activated and challenged to walk in the fulness of your power!

Over the next 7 days we will be focusing on 7 Key Power Areas. A list of our power focus areas are below:

7 Day Power Focus:

Day 1: I AM
Day 2: Powerful Mind
Day 3: Powerful Decisions
Day 4: Powerful Commitment
Day 5: Powerful Boundaries
Day 6: Powerful Actions
Day 7: Powerful Self-Care

Each day I will lead us in a group prayer, then following our group prayer, you will pray over your anointed power and our Key Focus for the day.

After our prayer, we will dive into our challenge for the day.

Before we dive into today’s challenge, let’s start off with our group prayer…

Group Prayer

God, we press in today for more of you, more of your power, more of your grace, more of your divine provision for our lives. We thank you for what you have released. We thank you for the power of your word, the power of your promise and the power of your plans for our lives. We thank you for creating us in your image, the image of I AM. We commit ourselves today to walking boldly in your image and rising up in our I AM to manifest the will and plan you have for our lives. We honor you, we praise you, and we glorify your name. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Individual Prayer

Focus on what your I AM’s are. Affirm your powerful and personal I AM’s through prayer (I AM worthy, I am enough, I am beautiful, I am highly favored, I am a virtuous woman, I am a King, I am the head and not the tail, I am a visionary, I am a wife, I am a husband, I am prosperous, I am healed…Give God the glory and the honor for the grace and the anointing for your I AM!)

Today's Message & Challenge

OK, let’s put our mind on our power and our power on our mind!

Today’s Key Focus, I AM, is not just a statement or an affirmation. It is the essence of who we are, what we project and how we come across to others. It’s what we embody through words, commitment and action. It’s who God created us to be, empowered us to be, anointed us to be.

Jesus said to the disciples, “…Who do you so that I am?” (Matthew 16:5). Pray attention to what Jesus was saying. In essence, Jesus was saying, based on my words, my commitment and my actions that I demonstrate everyday, who do you say that I am?

But it gets deeper. Jesus wasn’t asking them if they knew His title or who He said He was, He was asking if they knew His character, His truth, His purpose, His heart. Can you imagine meeting somebody and through their words, commitment and actions, you can know them and are impacted by them that intimately? That is true power — to walk so closely, consciously and consistently in agreement with your I AM that people can testify about who we are.

That’s how powerful our I AM statement is. It’s all of that…embodied, demonstrated, and reflected in our commitment, actions and words. Your I AM is the power you walk in. Your light shines through your I AM.

Put this in your spirit…Most of us think of our I AM statement is simply a title — I am a great mother, I am a great husband, I am a leader, I am a conqueror, I am victorious, I am a great wife, I am a virtuous woman, etc. But that’s too easy. We are doers of the word and therefore, we are powerful when we do — not just speak (1 Corinthians 4:20). Speaking it, declaring it is good and necessary but doing is when the power light comes on.

What’s important for us to remember about our I AM statement is that it’s not the power, it’s what we strive towards, what we do through our commitments, words and actions.

For example, if your I AM statement is, “I AM a great spouse,” by what standards, by what measure; to your spouse or to yourself? Have you objectively defined the commitments, words and actions for your I AM?

That’s what Paul was saying; his I AM was God’s standard  — that he hadn’t attained but that he was pressing towards. Listen to Philippians 3:12-14:

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Your objective I AM not only what your power says about you, it is what you strive towards. A professional athlete has to be at the top of their game to make it into a professional sport but they don’t stop reaching, striving to be better after they turn pro.

Your I am precedes you, it opens doors for you, the favor of God follows your I AM. When you define your I AM by powerful commitments, words and actions that stretch you, your I AM becomes the measuring stick for how you’re doing, and it compels you, inspires you and gives your power daily purpose.

Today’s Challenge

  1. Write a list of your top five I AM statements — the titles. I didn’t say your list can’t be longer than five, but for this exercise I want you to focus just on your top 5. You’ll see why in a minute…
  2. For your top five I AM statements, write down at least 5 objective characteristics, standards or behaviors that define your powerful I AM’s.
  3. After you write down the five characteristics, standards or behaviors that objectively define your I AM statement, ask three people to give you five characteristics, standards or behaviors for your top five I AM statements. For example, how do they define a great mom, a visionary, a doer, a generational curse breaker, a Christian, a great husband, etc.

Bring any discovery or opportunity for improvement to tomorrow’s challenge. Leave questions or comments in the comment box below.

Blessings!
