Today’s Prayer
God we ask that you keep us mindful of the need for self-care, for boundaries and expectations for our life. God we pray for powerful discernment and courage to support our self-care. We give you our life, we give you the glory and pray that our self-care will give you the honor. We ask that you continue to guide us, lead us and direct our footsteps for a powerful life that lifts you up and lets our light so shine before men. We thank you for trusting us with your anointing, we thank you for power, authority and dominion and, we thank you for giving us the inheritance of life and life more abundantly. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen!

Today’s Message
I don’t know about you but when I’m not taking care me, when I’m not honoring me, my peace, my sanity and my self-respect, nothing else matters. Self-care is not just about bubble baths, self-care is about how we support our best self, living our best life and honoring boundaries that keep us from being a prisoner in our life.
Self-care is your commitment to you. Your commitment to supporting the life you deserve, the people you deserve, the mind and spirit you deserve for this journey.
You cannot take care of your power if you don’t take care of yourself.
Haven’t you noticed how heavy and burdened your soul can become when you are living beneath yourself, tolerating the intolerable, trying to excuse the inexcusable or trying to make yourself fit people or behavior in your life that do not belong in your life?
Self-care is probably one of the hardest things to master because it comes with some of the hardest decisions we will ever have to make. It also comes with a requirement to know and be committed to doing whatever it takes to be healthy. Self-care is your mental and emotional health care plan.
Listen, we can do this the cute way or the truth way. But I prefer the truth way. There are some of us, and we’ve all been there, who want a better life, who want life to change, who are tired of mediocre but aren’t willing to do what it takes to shift. Prayer isn’t going to shift anything that our self-care does not support.
The bible said, “If you be faithful over a few things, God will make us ruler over much.’ Are you faithful over your self-care, are you faithful over your health care? Is your healthy, prosperous self-care reflected in your attitude, your circle, your boundaries, your self-investment, your goals and plans, your commitments and agreements, your willingness to rise up and do what has to be done to have the life you desire? If not, your self-care is suffering.
We don’t often associate our faith with self-care but the truth is, our faith is all about self-care. The bible gives us plenty of self-care principles. Here are some very important ones:
- “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4.23)
- “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” (Amos 3:3)
- “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm” (Proverbs 13:20)
- “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces” (Matthew 7:6)
- “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things” (Philippians 4:8)
- “All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one” (Matthew 5:37)
- “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2)
- “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
- “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7)
- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)
I love 3 John 1:2…God wants our soul to prosper just as much as He desires for us to prosper in any area of life. Self-care prospers our soul. It empowers our purpose and power.
Self-care is a decision, a standard, a foundation for the life that we desire. It is the fuel for our fire and the key to a life that supports what we believe. Self-care reflects our self-image, self-respect and self-love. Once we align self-care with our goals, ambitions, hopes and desires, we are empowered to be powerful and positioned to live our blessed life.
What’s your self-care policy look like? Does it honor you, does it empower you, does it reflect what you give and expect from others, does it invest in your greatness, does it provide you with a standard that reinforces your goals and dreams? Self-care is the mirror that we can look into and see how we’re living and honoring our self.
Today’s Challenge
Self-care will mean different things to different people. At the end of the day, self-care is a result of what we do that defines, promotes, and supports a prosperous soul.
For today’s challenge:
- Grab a piece of paper and write down 3 areas in your life that self-care can or should be taken to another level, prioritized or reinforced.
- Write down 3 benefits for each of the self-care areas that you listed above.
- Write down 3 actions that you will take and put a date on it, for when you will implement your self-care policy.
Get help if you need to, enlist the support of those around you if you need to, but prioritize your self-care policy.
You can take this challenge one step farther by writing down your top 5 goals and beneath each, write down the self-care policy that you must have in order to support those goals. Whether your goal is a great relationship, a degree, starting a new business, growing in faith, emotional health, wealth or starting over in life, your self-care policy should reflect how you plan to support your goals by taking care of you.
